BR 4MT 2-6-4T No 80151 with supposidly the 1.10pm Brighton train waiting to leave Tonbridge on 22 April 1957.

Robert Waterman adds "Despite the loco headcode, I have doubts about the destination in this instance. The train comprises BR standard stock which is classed restriction 4 (9 ft wide) on the Southern - C1 elsewhere. The section of line between Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells West was restrction 1 (8ft 6in) flatsided stock - thereafter restriction 4 to Brighton or Eastbourne.
Of course, the Hastings line south of Grove Junction (just south of Tunbridge Wells Central) was even tighter at restriction 0 (8ft Wide).

I suspect the train is likely destined for Ashford or beyond and is ECS just pulling in from west sidings - the loco headcode not yet having been put up correctly".
