Class B6 No.5053/1348 when Wakefield station was a classical design. 5053 did not make it into British Railways numbering, being withdrawn in December 1947.

Mr Heeson says "I would suggest this photo was taken in March 1928 when 5053 was a Copley hill loco .This loco was used at that time along with the D11s on the London trains between Leeds and Doncaster. It was a Ardsley loco but transfered for one month to Copley Hill It would suggest there was problems with their D11s"

Steve Banks adds "This B6 was actually at Copley Hill for only a few days in March and all of April 1928 and I would suggest that "problems with D11s" is supposition. In that year Copley Hill had a large allocation of B4s for working GNML expresses to Doncaster, and some D11s for the Pullman service to KX, neither of which this appears to be.
The B6s were allocated around the West Riding and much used for excursions, which judging by the label pasted on the old clerestory at the head, this appears to be".

He adds "From 1928 this B6 4-6-0 was at Ardsley/Copley Hill and often used on excursions from the West Riding, which this looks like with this mixture of carriages and the paper label pasted on the leading one. The clock suggests a setting-off time of about 11am, which was common for half-day excursions. Not all excursions carried reporting numbers. It helps to look at this image in the round rather than a loco picture. "
