26020 1955-02-26 Penistone
EM1 No 26020 approaches Penistone with a freight for Wath on February 26, 1955.
Peter Kerslake adds "This working will run down to Barnsley Junction from where it will leave the main line to Sheffield, heading down the Worsborough incline to Wath.
The electric locomotives working the Woodhead route were equipped with regenerative braking systems which reversed the polarity of their traction motors in order to supplement the standard braking systems, and was deployed on the decending gradients such as the Worsborough incline."
