64827 1957-07 Bottesford

On a short pick-up goods apparently made up entirely of Iron Ore hoppers, these would have come from Denton or Harston on the Woolsthorpe Branch.

John Clements says "Probably an iron ore train from Denton sidings. Four wagons is extremely short for a J39 which could handle 16 loaded iron ore. The probably answer is that the J39 would have been used to go up the lightly engineered branch, shunt and bring back trains - 2 or 3 - back to Belvoir Junction sidings where a larger engine would take them on through to Stanton iron works. It would then follow through with any remaining wagons. 64827 was unusual in that it had a 4200 gallon tender with a flared side. (There were quite a few with 3500 gallon tenders with flared sides but only a couple were like 64827)"
