Speke Junction 8C allocated LYR 2F 0-6-0ST No 11342 outside Horwich Works on 5 September 1948. It has just arrived and a start has been made on checking its condition. The firebox is marked General, the wheels are marked up and the cylinder covers removed for measurement, the left one has 18" chalked on the smokebox but the right is 18 1/8". Would this be the reason it was condemned nine days later?
