D6585 1967-11-19 Holborn Viaduct

On 19th November 1967 the Branch Line Society ran the ‘East Kent Railtour’ using a pair of BRC&W Type ‘3’ diesels which “topped and tailed” the train. No. D6595 was one of the narrow bodied locomotives, No. D6585 was a standard one and headed the tour into Kent through London Bridge, Lewisham, Dartford, Gravesend, Rochester and Chatham to Sheerness.

The trip continued around East Kent before returning to Victora via Folkestone, Ashford, Maidstone East, Swanley, Hither Green, Woolwich Arsenal, New Cross Gate, Sydenham, Crystal Palace, West Norwood, Streatham Hill and Balham.

Holborn Viaduct station, south end. In the coach window on the right can be seen the reflection of a pedestrian walking down Seacoal Lane towards Ludgate Hill.
