NVLR Milner 1923-09-24 Lofthouse

Nidd Valley Light Railway 0-6-0 Tank 'Milner'. Built by Hudswell Clarke & Co. of Leeds in 1909 (WN882) and sold for £650 in 1937 to Wimpey & Co. for use at their Cardiff opencast site, from where it was withdrawn in 1956.

Photographs taken at the Nidd Valley Light Railway are very scarce. The line was built by Bradford Corporation to assist in the construction of Angram and Scar House reservoirs. The line was also used for passenger traffic from 1907. Here is Lofthouse Station in September 1923 with 'Milner' named after an Alderman who had served Bradford Waterworks since 1898. The line closed in 1932 and all assets had been sold by 1937.
