At an unrecorded date, H class 31530 at the terminus at Allhallows, the fireman has climbed up to trim the coal prior to the train reversing back down the platform to collect any prospective passengers. The bleak nature of the place is apparent. If one were to walk to the foreshore, the view north would be across the Thames Estuary towards Canvey Island and Southend.
