7002 1961-04-29 Neasden

Castle class 4-6-0 No 7002 Devizes Castle at Neaden shed on April 29, 1961.

7002, which was fitted with a double chimney in July 1961, and Modified Hall 7922 seen in the background had brought trains to Wembley for the Schoolboy Football International. Also on shed that day were two 'Schools' class locos having brought trains from Dover and Hastings.

Peter Kerslake adds "7002, originally a Welsh based engine, allocated to Worcester at this date, has an improvised Reporting Number with its 'X' denoting a special working which has taken it to Neasden, not a depot where you would expect to record a Castle!"
