5058 1937 Bristol
GWR Castle class 4-6-0 No 5058 Earl of Clancarty departs from Bristol Temple Meads with a down express in 1937.
Peter Kerslake says "5058 has Earl of Clancarty nameplates so this must date from after September 1937 because from new in May 1936 it had been Newport Castle. It was one of 21 Castles"renamed between July and November when the "Earl" names formerly intended for, and carried by the early "Dukedog" 4-4-0s were transferred to newly built Castles.
The imposing towers of the facade of Temple Meads are just visible in the distance."
