7037 1956c Swindon

Castle 4-6-0 No 7037 Swindon being cleaned at Swindon shed c1956c. It has the elbow steam pipes forst introduced in 1955.

Peter Kerslake says "Swindon Depot's cleaning gang of five have worked hard on their 7037 Swindon, the locomotive now in spotless condition resplendent with its distinctive nameplate with its crest on the splasher below.
The last of the class, 7037 was built at Swindon in August 1950 and spent most of its time at Swindon although it did go to Worcester for just three months in September 1950, also spending a month at Cardiff Canton in 1959 and finally at Old Oak Common from where it was condemned in March 1963."
