5094 1951-07-28 Shiphay Bridge

GWR Castle 4-6-0 No 4099 Kilgerran Castle with 5094 and 6934 recorded as at Shiphay Bridge near Torre on 28 July 1951.
The engines are heading from Newton Abbot towards Paignton, from where they will be used to head Up expresses. The reason they are tender first is that, at this time, there were no engine turning facilities at Paignton (later provided in the form of a turntable at Goodrington from c.1957).
