GWR Castle 4-6-0 No 5048 Earl of Devon on the 10.0am Paignton-Newcastle at Lowes Bridge, Torquay on 16 August 1953. I love those 'Castellated' bay windows on the semi detached houses!

Peter Kerslake says "A splendid shot of 5048 "Earl of Devon" at the start of its run back home to Bristol, the engine being allocated to Bristol Bath Road depot at the date of this view until moving across to St. Philips Marsh in September 1960 when Bath Road depot closed, then moving to Cardiff Canton and later to Neath and Llanelly from where it was condemned in September of 1962".
