WR Castle 4-6-0 No 5053 Earl Cairns with a down express from the Midlands (332) climbing from Goodrington Sands on 12 July 1959.
Peter Kerslake says "Allocated from new in May of 1936 to Shrewsbury "Earl Cairns", formerly "Bishop's Castle", moved to Wolverhampton before heading down here to Newton Abbot and then Laira in November 1959, its final home being at Cardiff Canton from where it was condemned in July of 1962.
After arrival at Kingswear on this working 5053 will head back home to Newton Abbot depot, it may have gone back tender first but most likely as did the 'Torbay Express' engine was turned and took back a local."
