4077 1952-08-24 Broadsands viaduct near Goodrington

GWR Castle 4-6-0 No 4077 Chepstow Castle up 'Torbay Express' from Kingswear crossing Broadsands viaduct south of Goodrington Sands with a Down train on 24 August 1952.

Peter Kerslake says "4077 "Chepstow Castle" still has its original fluted inside cylinder block casing and steam pipes in this view from 1952, the engine being housed at Plymouth's Laira depot at about this time before going to Newton Abbot in May of 1959, and then to Bristol Bath Road in February of 1960.
Upon the closure of Bath Road in September 1960 it was one of many transferred over to the nearby St. Philips Marsh from where it was condemned in August of 1962."
