Castle 4-6-0 No 5031 Totnes Castle passes along the sea wall between Teignmouth and Dawlish with the up 'Cornishman, the 10.35am Penzance to Wolverhampton on 2nd September 1958.

Peter Kerslake says "A rare engine in the far west, Wolverhampton's 5031 Totnes Castle heads the northbound Cornishman along the deserted sea wall with Sprey Point in the background. I would have expected this engine to have come on at Newton Abbot , but the neatly applied Reporting Number shows that it has worked from Plymouth where at Laira a set of stencils was kept just for this purpose and so I suspect that 5031 will run through to Shrewsbury rather than just Bristol."
