GWR Castle 4-6-0 No 5055 Earl of Eldon on the 11.35am Birkenhead-Paddington descending from Saunderton in May 1948.

Peter Kerslake says " 5055 'Earl of Eldon' took its nameplates from 'Dukedog' 3212 (later 9012) in October of 1937, the first 'Dukedog' to be allocated a name by Mr. Collett but not, in fact, ever bearing a nameplate following objections raised to those in authority at Paddington.
There certainly appears to be at least fourteen coaches in this working and 5055 spent time housed at Newton Abbot, Carmarthen, Goodwick and Hereford during its working lifetime before ending its days at Gloucester in late 1964."
