102 1920s Ranelagh Bridge

GWR 4-4-2 No 102 La France at Ranelagh Bridge in the 1920s before the engine had a cast iron chimney fitted in 1923.

In September 1916, the original boiler was replaced by a superheated No. 1 long cone boiler and a new injector, raising the locomotive’s weight by some 4 tons. This necessitated shortening the chimney and safety valve cover. The date range is therefore 1916 to 1923.
