Ex-Highland Railway P. Drummond 'K' or 'Barney' (LMS '3F') class 0-6-0 No. 17698. Built by Dubs & Co. of Glasgow in February 1900 as HR No. 139 and withdrawn in December 1951 as BR No. 57698.

One of just twelve 'Barney's' to be built, 17698 is heading a freight train into Inverness in August 1939. The lovely early morning light adds greatly to this fine photograph.
