Not looking as well cared for here in this image taken during her late years of life on the Midland Region as she had earlier been in happier times whilst at the Western Region's Old Oak Common Depot , 70018 " Flying Dutchman " had in her glory days been a regular visitor to Plymouth working down from Paddington until , in common with her sisters at Old Oak and the " Britannias " at Laira and Newton Abbot , she was reallocated to Cardiff Canton in December of 1956 , joining that establishment's five newer " Britannias " already there.
Wholesale transfer of all fifteen Western Region " Britannias " to the Midland Region followed in June of 1958 where they joined similarly displaced former Eastern and Southern Region members of the class at a variety of Midland Region Depots until March of 1966 when 70019 " Lightning " became the first former Western Region " Britannia " to be condemned from Carlisle Upperby Depot , and by the end of 1967 all except 70000 " Britannia " and 70013 " Oliver Cromwell " had come to the end of their working lives.
