70051 " Firth of Forth " would have been allocated to Carlisle Kingmoor at the date of this photograph following her short four months spent at Banbury , that Motive Power Depot having been transferred to the Midland Region from the Western Region in 1963 , some three years before it closed in October of 1966 .
This image was taken the year following a dreadful event in the engine's life when , on the 5th . June , 1965 " Firth of Forth " suffered a " Blow Back "of fire and steam on to the footplate whilst passing through Winsford on the West Coast Main Line , her driver sadly not surviving the accident and her fireman suffering severe burns .
