Midland Railway Kirtley/Johnson '50' class 2-4-0 No. 14. Built at Derby in 1863 as MR No. 55, rebuilt in June 1877 as MR No. 14 and withdrawn in 1892 as MR No. 14A (duplicate list number).

An excellent portrait at Nottingham MPD's coaling stage taken circa 1880. As was often the case with early photographs, the very human temptation to be included could not be resisted. This has the (probably unintended) benefit of giving a good sense of scale!
