E103 1948-07-17 Grantham Station

Ex-Great Northern Railway Gresley 'A3' class 4-6-2 No. E103 'Flying Scotsman'. Built at Doncaster in Feb. 1923 as GNR No. 1472 and withdrawn in Jan. 1963 as BR No. 60103 and preserved. Of all Britain's preseved locomotives 'Flying Scotsman' is the name most recognised worldwide. Perhaps the least-known numbering and livery combination was the one carried (but seldom photographed) in it's very early BR days. It is seen here at Grantham Station in July 1948 as No. E103.
