2751 1930s Kings Cross
Double Chimney but not then with banjo dome cover.
What an absolutely splendid portrait of 2751 ," Humorist ", later to become British Railways 60097 , but earlier here in L.N.E.R. days at Kings Cross and looking immaculate as she backs out to " Top Shed " following arrival at the Capital.
As 2751 , " Humorist " had been the penultimate of the batch of four newly built class " A 3 's " , emerging from Doncaster Works in 1929 , following six earlier examples built there in 1928 , all of which constituted the first batch of ten newly built " A 3's " and which preceded a further seventeen to be built in 1930 , 1934 and 1935 , making a total of twenty seven newly built class " A 3's " which passed from the L.N.E.R. to British Railways in 1948.
" Humorist " lasted in service until being condemned in August of 1963 .
