60035 1956 Craigentinny
60035 (a Haymarket loco) is passing the east end of the carriage sidings at Craigentinny, Edinburgh and approaching Portobello West box on the up (southbound) Talisman.
A nicely turned out 60035 " Windsor Lad " lays an impressive smokescreen in this view as she works the " Talisman " in this North of the Border shot from 1956 .
As L.N.E.R. 2500 " Windsor Lad " , named after a renowned racehorse as were many of her sisters, had been built at Doncaster in July of 1934 and was the first of the final batch of nine newly built class " A 3' s " , this engine being the first of the class to be fitted in 1934 with the " Banjo Dome " steam collector on the boiler top , visible in this view.
She was withdrawn from service in September of 1961 .
