To me, it is the greatest pity that at least one of the many elegant 'Atlantic' Tanks that survived into the BR era from the LNER's constituents was not preserved. The only British exception is from the LMS camp in the form of the ex-LT&SR 'Thundersley'. For a fraction the cost of some 'new build' schemes we might have resurrected some other classic types that would be infinitely more useful to our heritage railways. My opinion! Here is sparkling ex-NBR Reid 'M' (LNER 'C15') 67457 at Hawick MPD. Note the rivited repair to the lower RHS of the tank!
