Still performing a useful role, following withdrawal from BR stock, the remains of two sentinels are seen in Darlington scrapyard, serving as a bothy and a storeroom for scrapyard workers. Y1 No 68149 was based at West Aukland throughout the BR period until its withdrawal in January 1958. Y3 No 68180 had been withdrawn from Selby in May 1956.
