7828 is heading for Oswestry

A long standing veteran of the Cambrian network , 7828 " Odney Manor " spent fifteen years working the Cambrian lines before being withdrawn from Shrewsbury Depot in October of 1965 , this member of its class having been the first to be given the green livery later applied to all the " Manors " by July of 1956.
Subsequently purchased from Woodham's yards at Barry in mid 1981 the engine was restored at the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway , returning to steam again in 1986 and eventually in April of 1995 and following a series of earlier moves it settled to its new home on the West Somerset Railway .
In 2011 the locomotive was renamed " Norton Manor " in honour of 40 Commando Unit , Royal Marines , based at Hook Norton Manor close to the West Somerset network .
