7819 1963 Shrewsbury
Note the new canopies partially completed. This is the southern end of Shrewsbury station with 7819 " Hinton Manor " waiting to leave for Cambrian metals on a " down " working doubtless bound for Aberystwyth via Welshpool and Barmouth Junction .In August of 1963 " Hinton Manor " , in company with 7822 " Foxcote Manor " , 7828 " Odney Manor " and 7827 " Lydham Manor " were chosen to head the Royal Train when The Queen visited Pwllheli , and 7819 looked very different that day from as seen here , with all four engines turned out beautifully by their Depot staff at their home at Oswestry. From new in 1939 " Hinton Manor " was allocated to Carmarthen before a transfer to Oswestry in 1943 and she remained working the Cambrian lines prior to transfer to Shrewsbury in January of 1965
