Up local. A Chester engine in earlier years , but so long associated with working on the Cambrial lines in mid Wales in company with others inbher class , 7827 " Lydham Manor " is seen here in fine condition and just three months before she and three of her sisters namely 7822 , 7819 and 7828 were selected to work the Royal Train on Saturday the 10th .of August 1963 to the Cambrian coast .By a strange twist of fate all four such locomotives have survived into preservation .The " Manors " were the heaviest class permitted on the Cambrian system , well liked by the footplate crews and invariably rostered on passenger workings from the early ' fifties to and from Pwllheli and venturing as far north as Shrewsbury often on the " Cambrian Coast Express " , their duties being transferred to a number of the Standard classes in the early ' fifties .
