7818 1961c Moat Lane Junction
On the Cambrian Coast Express in sparkling condition as was normal for the Cambrian Manors, 7818 Granville Manor at Moat Lane Junction. 7818 came to Machynlleth from Wolverhampton's Oxley Depot in January 1960 at a time when the allocation of Manors at Machynlleth and Aberystwyth was being strengthened. The Cambrian Coast Express took some six hours to run on the section between Wolverhampton and Aberystwyth, but it was still an "Express" in name at least! The service ended in early March 1964, the last Western Region express to carry a headboard. 7818 was sadly not one of the nine Manors to make it into preservation.
