7819 1950s Welshpool
Oswestry's nicely turned out 7819 " Hinton Manor " receives attention from a group of young enthusiasts here at Welshpool as she waits departure time on a local stopping service.
Built at Swindon from 1938 and using parts from withdrawn " 4300 " class " Mogul " locomotives the first twenty of the class proved indifferent in producing steam until tests with 7818 in 1951 improved their draughting and steaming abilities 7819 had gone from new in February of 1939 to Carmarthen , then to Oswestry in 1943 , remaining there for most her working life but ending her days at Shrewsbury from January of 1965 .
One of the last eight of her class withdrawn from Shrewsbury in late 1965 , and a true stalwart of the Cambrian network , " Hinton Manor " was sold to Woodham's at Barry but has survived into preservation
