The allocation of Manors at Shrewsbury and Mid Wales, rostered on the Cambrian line passenger duties as replacements for the little Dukedog class, was enhanced in the late fifties by the addition of a number of additional members of the class, themselves having ben displaced from their Westcountry duties by the invading Diesels . Subsequent introduction of Standard designs to the Cambrian lines, however, saw the Manors relegated to lesser duties in their final years, and they were frequently seen passing thrrough Gloucester in the mid ' fifties on workings to and from South Wales with freights, this view showing 7811, Dunley Manor at the eastern end of Gloucester Central, having paused for a crew change and water stop with one of Gloucester's 14XX class in the background, doubtless on a Chalford duty
