7804 1959c Neyland

7804 " Baydon Manor " looks to be in fine condition here at Neyland Depot in this splendid portrait from 1959 , one of Carmarthen's " Manors " with a long association with the Cambrian system and one of twenty of her class working those lines in the early ' fifties.
Neyland Depot closed in September of 1963 but in its heyday had boasted this 65 foot turntable , essential to such an important Depot housing over forty engines at the peak of its service in the mid 'fifties , including in 1956 no less than seven of the little " 2251 " class together with four " Counties " which were allocated there for a considerable number of years.
Although nine " Manors " survived into preservation sadly 7804 was not one of them .
