Peter Kerslake says "This is eastern end of Gloucester Central station with 7815 'Fritwell Manor' a Worcester engine in past days sharing the scene with 1453 complete with hand made front number plate which it carried in its late years waiting in the bay destined either for a service to Stroud and possibly Kemble but more likely bound for Sharpness, the line across the Severn to Lydney by this date having been severed with the destruction of the Severn bridge."
