7803 1961-14-14 Shrewsbury

Manor class 4-6-0 No 7803 Barcote Manor stands in Shrewsbury station ready to take the down 'Cambrian Coast Express' on April 14, 1961.

Peter kerslake says "Absolutely imaculate in appearance, complete with the later style Headboard and white painted front end 7803 "Barcote Manor" waits at Shrewsbury for the arrival of the down "Cambrian Coast Express" which it will work home to Aberystwyth, its home shed, where Shedmaster Danny Rowlands was known for the copious use of white paint on his "Manors", supplies being generously obtained from the obliging Stores Superintendent here at Shrewsbury.
Following the early 1960s altered timetables the engine from the morning "Cambrian" would work just to here before spending an hour on Shrewsbury Depot and then head home again later in the afternoon on the down service."
