44765 1960s Crewe North

44765 1960s Crewe North

One of three non-Caprotti Class Fives to run with a double chimney, No.44765 had been allocated to Crewe North since it entered traffic in December 1947. It was built with electric lighting but this was removed in 1952; No.44765 was equipped with AWS in May 1959. This picture was probably taken soon after a Heavy General overhaul completed in August 1961.
