D6331 D6315 1971-09-26 Bristol SPM
Both have worksplates! Listed as withdrawn from 82A in March 71 - But she was seen at Exeter on 3/5/71 with the only other GFYE loco of this class - D6312. So why transfer a withdrawn loco down to Exeter? D6331 - along with other 82A locos D6336/56 was transferred to Laira when the class finished in the Bristol area. D6331 was leading the convoy on 2/5/71 and caught fire at Sampford Peverell, requiring attention from the local fire brigade and resulting in it being dumped at Exeter. Here it languished until collected and taken - in a freight hauled by 827 - back up to SPM So based on that, the recorded withdrawal date of March 1971 may be stretching matters, it was last recorded working at Bristol Temple Meads on 22/2/1971 - does hauling a train of dead engines to Exeter not count as withdrawn or is this another example of a withdrawn loco being used in traffic?
