6348 1971-07-25 Laira D1011

Type 2 No.6348 at Laira on 25 July 1971 had been withdrawn the previous day. It remained there until October when it was moved to St.Phillip's Marsh before going to Swindon for cutting-up in March 1972. No.6348 was one of twelve of the second production series to receive blue livery and one of four to have the final variant with Rail Alphabet serif numerals, no D-prefix and double arrows above the numbers. D1011 Western Thunderer is on the next road, would work for another four years, until October 1975.
