2404 1930s York

The absolutely magnificent spectacle of ex-NER Raven 4-6-2 (LNER 'A2') class No. 2404 'City of Ripon', striding away impressively from York with a down express. 2404 was unique among these five locomotives in being modified in September 1929 with a Gresley 'A3' boiler requiring an extended smokebox, sloping firebox sides and a wider cab. 2404 was built at Darlington in Mar. 1924 and withdrawn in Feb. 1937 with a mere thirteen years service to her credit.
