Two cranes are in the small quarry.

The special has just crossed the Minninglow Embankment and is approaching the site of former quarry sidings with the loading bank visible beyond the gate - Glossop's sidings. There is an abandoned crane still in situ at this site.
John Divine adds:
"Given the orienatation of the photo I would think that the Minninglow emankment is ahead of the train. That is to say the embankment closest to Minninglow. I'm not sure this embankment had a name.The sidings were also know as Glossops Minninglow sidings which might confuse!"

58856 was fitted with wooden slats at cab windows for the April railtour.
