67392 1955 Peterborough North Box

Ex-Great Northern Railway Ivatt 'C2' (LNER 'C12') class 4-4-2 Tank No. 67392. Built at Doncaster in July 1907 as GNR No. 1542 and withdrawn in October 1956.

The sixty Ivatt 'C12s' were a particularly elegant example of the Atlantic Tank type favoured by many companies at the turn of the 19th/20th centuries. As time progressed they were gradually displaced by more modern and capable designs. Nonetheless, 49 came into BR stock and two were allocated to Peterborough for station pilot duties. 67392 is seen by Peterborough North Box on just such work in 1955.
