47976 1950s Ambergate

Beyer-Garratt 2-6-6-2T No 47976 is routed off the main line at Ambergate, Derbyshire in the early 1950s. 47976 is taking the west Jct to north Jct curve at Ambergate & then on to the Erewash Valley line via Crich Jct & Codnor Park thereby on to it’s home shed of Toton.
It will have taken a coal train to Rowsley which is as far as it could go as they were banned between there & Chinley north Jct.
They were also not allowed on shed at Rowsley, so if there was no immediate work they were sent back light engine.

Built in 1930; w/d April 1956.
