6412 1963c Yeovil
Derek Phillips says "I was a Yeovil Town fireman and this looks like the shuttle returning from Yeovil Junction towards the Town station I can just glimpse the Yeovil Pen Mill to Weymouth tracks on the far side".
Graham Hallett says "To me this looks like it might be on one of the Yeovil Town to Yeovil Junction Shuttle. " In November 1963 it went from Yeovil to Gloucester Horton Road ....
Destined to have quite a few stories to tell , this engine , in earlier years having seen service from Landore and Laira sheds , made it into preservation following withdrawal , and had earlier worked the final day of services from Gloucester Central on the Chalford branch on Saturday the 31st . October , 1962 , sharing the honours that day with 1458 and 1472 , all working from Gloucester Horton Road Depot .
I don't know whether or not 6412 remained at Gloucester after that date , so this location is not clear , but following withdrawal the engine was saved and went to the then Dart Valley Railway at Buckfastleigh in early June of 1966 . Later years took 6412 to the nearby Kingswear line before a sale in 1976 meant a move to the West Somerset Railway but in 2009 6412 returned to her previous home at Buckfastleigh , where she can be seen today.
