6412 1960s Stroud

6412 1960s Stroud

Peter Kerslake says "It was not only Mr. Collett's little "1400" class which worked the Gloucester to Chalford services as at times Gloucester Horton Road shedmaster would supplement his dwindling number of serviceable "1400's", especially in the 'sixties, with a Pannier Tank as seen here.
Gloucester's 6412, seen here at Stroud, on one of these rosters, had the distinction of working a Chalford service on the very last day, namely Saturday 31st October 1964 sharing that day's duties through the "Golden Valley" with 1458 and 1472, both of which were still in service.
Subsequently withdrawn, 6412 was restored at Worcester Works before going down to the Dart Valley Railway in South Devon where it presently resides today "
