6421 5092 5551 1956-05 Laira

One of my late evening shots on Laira's coaling line from 1956 with Pannier Tank 6421 and Prarie Tank 5551 each side of the main attraction , Old Oak Common's 5092 , " Tresco Abbey ".
5092 was , I recall, a very rare visitor to the far West at this time and had arrived at Plymouth this evening on the 1.30.p.m. fom Paddington one hour late at 7.30.p.m. , so something had gone wrong earlier in the day either at Old Oak Common shed or on the run down.
5092 spent much of its working life initially at Gloucester , and later at Worcester where it was allocated from 1943 during Wartime until 1955 when it was transferred to Old Oak Common.
It ended its days at Bristol Bath Road shed and at Cardiff Canton before being withdrawn on the 29th. of July , 1963
All looks quiet and peaceful , and someone has had a spendid clean up of all the accumulated ash usually so apparent here during the daylight hours.
