On Up Cambrian Coast Express, 75006 was off Oswestry from December 1953 to September 1958. 78002 was a Cambrian section loco from new to August 1963. Two examples here of Standard classes of motive power seen on the Cambrian system in later years , with 78002 from Portmadoc Depot as pilot to a nicely turned out 75006 both heading a formidable looking Cambrian Coast Express which will run to Paddington via Shrewsbury where these two will be replaced by a Castle or King . This formation will include portions from both Aberystwyth and Pwllheli which have earlier been combined at Dovey Junction , hence the length of the train , but 78002 has a Stopping Passenger lamp in position , possibly left by mistake ! The principal service on the former Cambrian system , the Cambrian Coast Express dated back to 1921 with a through service between Paddington and the two resorts mentioned above , the service finally ending in March of 1964.
