This is Shrewsbury so it must be the southern, or Birmingham side of the station , with 46228 " Duchess of Rutland " attracting a lot of attention on what looks to be a cold and wet September in 1963 .
There appears to be something going on , with the locomotive the centre of attention and with both uniformed and several trilby hatted Inspectors on the far platform and 46228 , doubtless having worked down from Crewe , will be turned here ready to run back home later in the day unless there's been a problem with the engine on its downward run.
