46228 1960s Shap

Colin Ryder says "46228 Duchess of Rutland is captured approaching Tebay station from the Lune Gorge and has just passed under the bridge carrying the A685 road from Brough to Kendal which was demolished later when the M6 motorway was built and replaced some 150 yards to the South by the concrete bridge arching over the river Lune, the railway and the M6.The fourth coach is crossing the turnout that allows entry to the down loop, and from there also via a spur behind the down platform to the loco shed yard. The loco will shortly pass by Tebay No.1 Signal Box from where the photo was probably taken by Jim Carter around 1961."
