Just look at all those spare valve gear parts

Allocated to Crewe North Depot at this period in time , 46221 " Queen Elizabeth " is within the Works undergoing a Heavy General overhaul which took her out of service from late June until early September of that year .
The massive links on the lifting gear and the uncovered inside valve heads show up well in this view , and the boxes of parts are of interest , with the contents appearing to be new , but certainly kept neatly contained for future use , and the general scene is one of good order .
46221 was withdrawn from service in May of 1963
